Aquila and his wife Priscilla were Jews and natives of Pontus.  Their occupation was tent making.  They fled from Rome to Corinth (AD 49 or 50) when the emperor Claudius had commanded all Jews to leave that city.  When Paul came to Corinth, he found them and stayed with them for some time, working with them at the trade of tent making.

Acts 18: 1-3    They accompanied Paul to Ephesus (Acts 18: 18-19), instructed the Alexandrian Apollo and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly (Acts 18:24-28), entertained the Apostle Paul at Ephesus for three years, during his third missionary journey, kept a  Christian Church in their house (I Cor 16:19), left Ephesus for Rome, kept in Rome also a church in their house (Rom 16:3-5), but soon left that city, and settled again at Ephesus (II Tim 4:19).

Aquila & Priscilla teach us that couples can have an effective ministry together.  Aquila and Priscilla are never mentioned seperately in the Bible.  In marriage and ministry, they were always together.
